Thousands of people have joined Mark Clarke and the Conservatives’ campaign for a fairer deal for Earlsfield Station.
People are rightly furious that:
- The ticket machines break down almost every morning.
- There is little shelter when queueing down the street in the rain to buy a ticket.
- There is no cover when staff selling tickets go on holiday.
- When one or two trains are cancelled the entire station has to be closed due to overcrowding.
- Pre pay oyster cards do not work at the station.
- The station bridge is in a disgraceful, graffitied state with no plans to fix it.
- There is no lift in place and no plans for one until 2010.
Despite this, South West Trains bizarrely gave a prize to Earlsfield Station of ‘Best Small Station’.
Mark is encouraging people to write to the Chief Executive of South West Trains to let him know what you think of this decision and ask for urgent improvements. The address is Friars Bridge Court, 41-45 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8NZ.
