Oyster

Finally, Pay-As-You-Go Oyster comes to South West Trains. Commuters will pay less, have a more convenient journey and see a big reduction in ticket queuing times.

But it took a lot of bashing heads together by Boris to get us here. The old Mayor, Ken Livingstone had a flaming row with the train operating companies. In many ways, you can’t blame him – their behaviour was appalling. But they only behaved so badly because the Government wrote such poor franchise agreements. Even so, having a tantrum isn’t a responsible way for a Mayor to behave. That is why Boris promised to sit round a table and hammer out a deal. At the mayoral election, many people took on trust reassurances that Boris would be a serious leader for London. Getting Pay-As-You-Go Oyster is a great vindication of the trust that Londoners placed in him.
